WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 26, 2024

WEEKLY MESSAGE – April 26th – Bishop McGregor
Leading St. David’s school chapel was a bit out of my comfort zone and I wasn’t sure if I would relate or communicate effectively to the children. But I was willing to give it a try. After two weeks of worshipping together with the young students, I look forward to it now and the children are an inspiration for me. With large smiles, they are happy to be there, and sing and talk without any reservations. They are generous, kind, attentive and passionate. One of the most joy-filled times is when one of them yells at the top of his or her lungs “Bishop Todd”. My heart begins to melt away my anxiety and fills it with peace and joy.
It’s amazing how we can overcome our fears when leaning into the situation and confronting our anxieties.  I was uncertain about this situation and God wanted me to lean into my discomfort. This opportunity to be around people I didn’t feel comfortable turned fears into a blessing. In the Greek language the same word is used for ‘test’ and ‘temptation.’ God wants to bless us and for us to be blessed, we have to take a risk and settle into our discomfort. I thank the Lord for bringing this test, and the children of the St. David’s community and filling my life with joy every Tuesday.
