Spiritual Life & Worship

“The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever they may be; and, according to the gifts given them, to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world; and to take their place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church.”

These words from the Prayer Book Catechism direct our ministries of Spiritual Formation and Growth as we seek to draw closer to Our Lord and one another in our various callings. This is a life long process. Our programs and classes help each person grow into their calling to “represent Christ and his Church.”

ADULT CHOIR
Open to all singers, meeting Thursdays at 7:00 pm, in the Sanctuary for practice.

CURSILLO
A renewal and community building weekend experience which is then followed by weekly “reunions” with others who have attended Cursillo. Reunions are intended for support and fellowship as one maintains his or her commitment to a spiritual life. Click here to get a copy of the Cursillo Candidate Form

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING (DOK)
DOK is an order for women of all ages who desire to follow a rule of life involving prayer, study, and service. This group meets the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month in the fall, and the 2nd Sundays of each month during the summer at 8:45 am, in the Mark room.

EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN (ECW)
We are Episcopal Church Women committed to one another and called to be witnesses for Christ. Our purpose is to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world. We work for the mission of our church and various Outreach projects so essential in our Christian lives. Our challenge is to provide a safe place where every person is free to become the person Christ created her to be.

Our Prayer: “Almighty God, bless, we pray, our work in mission and ministry in the world; make us so thankful for the precious gift of your beloved Son, that we may pray fervently, labor diligently, and give liberally to make known throughout the world the redeeming love of our Savior. Amen.”

We meet the 1st Saturday of each month at 11:15 a.m. in Parish Hall. All women of the Episcopal Church are members who choose to participate.

BIBLE STUDY For ALL
Our Bible study meets from 9 – 9:45 before the 10:00am service, usually in the Mark Room. For more information, contact Jay Webber.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Our Women’s Bible study meets at 11:30 to 12:30 after the 10:00am service, in the Mark Room. The topic is “Adventurous Prayer”, and we use a guide book along with our Bibles. Could your prayer life use a jump start or a tune-up? Would you like to have a deeper walk with the Lord and impact those around you as you pray and watch God work among us? Then please join us for the great adventure. We meet weekly except when other church ministries or holidays prevent it.

GUILD OF THE CHRIST CHILD
During the first weeks after a St. David’s family brings home a new baby (either by birth or adoption), Guild members deliver a home-cooked meal, a pair of booties hand-knit by members of the St. David’s knitting group, and a card to the home. Details such as directions and food preferences are arranged with the parents before the baby arrives. Guild members also make simple, personalized felt banners for each infant or child baptized at St. David’s. Each banner is displayed throughout the baptismal services and is then presented to the family as a keepsake.
